Rachel Sin FW2013: Easy Chic

Runway1

Rachel Sin’s New Fall winter Collection was flirty, girly, but sophisticated. The Geek Chic Styling was endearing, sexy and suitable for Rachel Sin’s clothing collection. The look kind of reminds me of Gisele Bundchen in Devil Wears Prada, the nonchalant hairdo and the big-frame eye glasses that says “I’m beautiful and smart, thank you very much.”

The collection is trendy office wear, with the neutral palette and dark teal – perfect for Fall. But with the touch of mint green and orange polka dots, it added the playfulness the collection needed to break away from the typical somber autumn colors. But even so, all of these pieces are great all year round for a nice dinner with friends, happy hour, and many more.

One of my personal favourite looks is the next photo, the dark teal get-up, which had a twist to paneled pants (literally) and a matching boyfriend-cut blazer.   The clean lines in the collection, and the mix and match of sheer polka dot details, are definitely flattering for any female figure. But hands down, the flutter blouse (the first photo) is my favourite piece of the collection because of it’s originality. It’s just something I think many girls might like and would specifically search up Rachel Sin just to get that trendy dress shirt. Maybe I can convince Rachel to lend it to me! Haha, a girl can wish!

On a final note, Rachel looked adorable when she walked along her models, perhaps the geek chic styling was basically inspired by herself! Even Daura took some time to realize that it was Rachel leading the models in the runway.

Why Martin Lim Wowed at Fashion Week

ML_03

Although grouping all our favourites of Montreal Fashion Week would have been much easier on us busy bloggers, we decided that it would not do Martin Lim’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection justice to be grouped with all the rest. Hence, this separate review post to appreciate their collection, simply because we were blown away!  The collection is filled with some serious vitality and class, though is in no sense uptight.  Danielle Martin and Pao Lim have designed for the smart, elegant and confident lady who doesn’t hesitate to let loose and have a little fun.

The styling was DEFINITELY on the ball.  Designers often attempt to create a surreal environment in styling their collections with dramatic makeup and hair, which does indeed have its own advantages on the runway (high fashion is an unattainable dream).  Martin Lim took an intelligent approach with a romantic and feminine look, which allowed the female audience to properly envision themselves wearing these pieces (and pulling them off).  In my opinion, this is owed to a keen intuition for business on Martin Lim’s part.

It is impressive to see how far Martin Lim has come.  These young designers have reached great success at Montreal Fashion Week 24 and we anticipate much more in the years to come.

Enjoy these photos of our favourite pieces, courtesy of our photographer Dru.
