With the help of social media, Stromae announced to his fans that he would be performing a little “stunt” in Montreal today at 12:30 PM at Place des Arts. I rushed to the scene this afternoon and managed to get these pretty awesome shots* of the Belgian artist. His performance of his 2 hits “Formidable” and “Papaoutai” on his new album Racine Carrée was exceptional.

Being the fashion-obsessed person that I am, I could tell that this hard-working musician puts an equal amount of effort into his style and overall image. It’s not the first time Stromae is seen in this sick geometric polo, he was also wearing it here and here. Belgian stylist Coralie Barbier is the one responsible for Stromae’s impeccable style. I’m thinking that she gets her inspiration from the likes of high-end fashion labels such as Kenzo Paris and Josh Goot. These brands really understand the importance of proportions and color combinations in their patterns. It’s modern, it’s clean, it’s eccentric and it’s exactly how I love to dress (stay tuned for my next outfit post Winking smile )! Did you get to see Stromae perform today? If you missed it I shall be posting my video of his performance on YouTube shortly! Have a fashionable weekend.

H&M Showroom in NYC

classy dress, collection preview, crocodile embossed, daura lee, fringes, H&M new collection, H&M showroom, jean jacket details, lana del rey style, montreal fashion blogger, new at H&M, new york, new york fashion week, NYFW2014, semi-transparent, styling, tassels

What’s new at H&M? With H&M being so fast-paced, it can be hard to keep up with what’s new and cool in stores. I was invited to the H&M showroom during New York Fashion Week to view their latest collection and share all the beautiful details with you guys. The focus is indeed on the details in this collection – tassels, fringes and croc-embossments to name a few. I’m wondering if previous H&M collaborator Lana Del Rey had something to do with the inspiration for any of this. One of my favourite items of the collection are the air-superiority blue androgynous loafers (yes, I did my color research). The laid-back feel of these items was balanced out with a seductive semi-transparent black long dress which placed as a main attraction in the showroom. It’s interesting to see H&M’s direction towards a more cohesive collections. As many of these items tie well together, this makes it easy for anyone to come up with complete and head-turning ensembles.

This post is dedicated to my long-time friend Quentin Dumont-Freixo who is now off biking with the Dutch.

You gotta love the swag style associated with bike culture. I’m not talking about the hipster/hippie look – if you’ve been keeping up with my blog you’ll know I’m the modern type. I’m talking about the fresh and the cool. Crewnecks, five panel caps, backpacks and solid colors is what I love to be wearing when I’m cycling around town. The day of the shoot I felt so comfortable, I think I’ll be dressing like this more often. My fancy side can’t help but dress things up a little with these leather cutout booties by Jeffrey Campbell and my Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, a recent purchase while in NYC for New York Fashion Week. Judging from the popularity of certain looks at NYFW, I think many fashionistas have been longing for more swag and less glam in their wardrobes. We need more statement items in the boyish laid-back department, items we can mix with our favourite designer shoes, purses and jewellery.

Despite the pot holes, road cracks and aggressive drivers of Montreal who give us cyclists a 1-inch clearance, biking around town this summer has been amazing. As I live 15 minutes from downtown, it’s almost always quicker to take the bike and cut through traffic. Uphill makes you work to stay fit, and downhill is your reward. The only downside is that I can’t wear my fancy heels when I ride.
