This album combines modern architecture, urban/street style and film photography. As far as our generation is concerned, fashion is all about mixing the old with the new! I absolutely love the grainy look of film photos, especially in the shadowy areas of each shot. The colors also turned out great – notice my new hair? :)

I`d like to thank Ryu for really doing his homework before this shoot. No time was wasted, as he knew exactly where in that massive building we should go to snap our shots. The great thing about photography is that you can progress in your work wherever you go. Every room, structure and light source can inspire an idea for a shot. Ryu keeps his eyes peeled as he wanders the city every single day. I would say that I’m the same way when it comes to style. Whether I know you or not, I’m observing what you’re wearing and taking notes in my head (fear not, I mean no harm). I tell myself what I shouldn’t wear and what I should experiment with. I don’t like to have only one style – I like to be whoever I want to be. I was wearing this first outfit in a McDonald’s and noticed two strangers observing me, much like I observe others. They probably thought I always dressed like this. Probably put me into a certain category. What they don’t know is that one day I’m a street kid and the next I’m head-to-toe Chanel…JK. I can’t afford Chanel, but if I could, I would be too good with my money to buy it.

I would like to wish everyone who follows the lunar calendar a happy new year! Drink lots of tea and get lots of red envelopes.

I was very excited when I found out I’d be shooting with Laura Baldwinson after seeing her amazing portfolio. Laura’s aesthetic is edgy, creative and fashionable. Some of these shots were achieved using a photography technique known as freelensing. I quite like the out-of-focus effect, don’t you?

Thanks to Laura, I’ve been motivated to get back into the game of fashion, blogging and photography. I’ve been in and out of the loop ever since starting this site back in 2011, so this is not to say that this blog won’t be on hiatus in the future. I do what I want to do, and right now this just seems right. If you like my work, feel free to subscribe via bloglovin’ or add yourself to the mailing list in the sidebar of this page.

Since I just got a new hairdo, I’ll be shooting a more elaborate creative with Laura this week! Stay tuned.

Looking Back

In early 2012, I started this fashion blog with my cousin Susan as a way for us to express our fashion sense and get creative. I loved the idea of improving something that I made from scratch. Each and every aspect was important to me – the styling, the photography, the writing, website design, search engine optimization and networking. After nearly 2 years I have learned many useful skills which I will take with me as I start new projects alongside this blog.  These new projects will give me the opportunity to acquire a different set of skills.

Thanks to those who have supported me thus far! I look forward to sharing new work very soon. May your 2014 be filled with yummy food, exciting travel, great relationships and confidence-inducing outfits.
