Photos  for Statement Stripes taken by Alexi Romano and retouched by me. This outfit post doubles as a submission to IFB Project #95 – Show Us Your Stripes.

Gold necklace thrifted from Lost and Found | Multi-coloured Striped Sleeveless top by Jones New York | Basic blue long sleeve tee by ZARA | Gold cut-out bracelet from Delilah | Tapered slim sweat pant by Roots Canada | Melina Cutout Booties by Jeffrey Campbell exclusively at Nastygal

When I do stripes, a basic white and navy tee from the GAP will simply not do. Stripes are meant to be a serious statement, which is why I fell in love with this Jones New York multi-coloured top as soon as I spotted it on the rack at my local thrift shop! For 29 bucks (not to mention a hefty tax rate at that), I got this totally chic and clean-cut sleeveless top consisting of bright coral, yale blue, beige, black and white. Now that’s more like it. It’s summer time, which means it’s time to dress like HAPPINESS! Paired with my laid back slim sweatpants and my cutout booties, I was ready to hit the road with fashionable confidence.

Speaking of summertime, it seems to be hiding from us over here. We Canadians are experiencing spontaneous gusty winds and cold temperatures these past couple of days – go figure. Can you tell from the photos how much trouble I’ve been having with my hair? Hopefully things will be back to normal by next week. #firstworldproblems #canadianweather

This photo shoot was done at an abandoned building on Van Horne street. The place was filled with broken glass from previous drunken nights, ugly graffiti and crumbling staircases. It was so eerie that I feared a zombie might jump me from out of the dark. I had my second dream about zombies last night. I really need to stop with this zombie obsession…but I digress.

I hope you enjoyed my statement stripes. Until next time!

I have a thing for stripes, I always feel well put together when I wear a striped top with just a pair of jeans and cute shoes.
You chose a quite creepy location for these photos! I think I would have been scared!
Don’t mention the weather, in my country is quite cold these days and it rains a lot!

      Noemi,

You’re right, stripes just make an outfit so much better and are quite easy to style! I’m happy they’re “in” now and hence we have a huge selection of striped items in stores to choose from.

The shooting location was completely unplanned! I knew I wanted to stay away from cars and people on the streets so it seemed like a good idea. It turned out fine in the end lol.
