Crop Tops, High-waisted Pants and Skinnies – Please don’t leave us!
I’m not going to lie – I’m a very American Apparel kind of girl. I’m a bit ashamed to say that I have at least one AA item on a couple of times a week (As a fashion enthusiast, I should be more diverse). I was shopping there one day and was asked by the manager to work for them because I already fit right in!
Love it or hate it, but I don’t remember the last time I left the house wearing extremely low-rise pants (what an oxymoron). I opt for pants that lengthen the legs and shorten the torso. If I’m not wearing high-waisted pants, I’m often found in a pencil skirt, which is by definition, high-waisted.
During our meeting yesterday, I was talking with Kim and Susan about how we used to think that bell-bottom jeans were the only way to go, and how everyone used to pull their pant legs over their boots instead of tucking them in. Today, the thought of frayed salt-stained flared pants on a winter day just repulses me. I think we should all sign a petition banning the “coming back” of flared pants! Skinnies are so care-free as there is no extra material flailing all over the place. Seeing as we can’t all pull off the hippie/boho chic look, please Rachel Zoe, don’t impose your personal style onto us! No offense though, she’s an awesome stylist.
I think that the only way in which these horrendous styles would make a come-back is if they were to be reintroduced with a twist. I was completely against large shoulder pads until I saw how boss they could look! Susan and I are such chameleons when it comes to our taste in fashion that we fear the inevitable change in our tastes and style. A few years from now, our beautiful will turn into our ugly and vice-versa.
In all seriousness, let’s all help keep skinnies on the market…
