I was very excited when I found out I’d be shooting with Laura Baldwinson after seeing her amazing portfolio. Laura’s aesthetic is edgy, creative and fashionable. Some of these shots were achieved using a photography technique known as freelensing. I quite like the out-of-focus effect, don’t you?

Thanks to Laura, I’ve been motivated to get back into the game of fashion, blogging and photography. I’ve been in and out of the loop ever since starting this site back in 2011, so this is not to say that this blog won’t be on hiatus in the future. I do what I want to do, and right now this just seems right. If you like my work, feel free to subscribe via bloglovin’ or add yourself to the mailing list in the sidebar of this page.

Since I just got a new hairdo, I’ll be shooting a more elaborate creative with Laura this week! Stay tuned.

My Take on Fresh Whites and Networking

Striped navy and cream bodysuit from American Apparel, white tailored cotton shorts from Zara, off-white DKNY quilted tote, gold chain necklace from BCBG, detailed cuffs from Delilah

I LOVE that white is in this summer, because it means that many stores are carrying different styles in this fresh and classic hue.

La semaine de mode de Montréal (Montreal fashion week) is nearing and Susan and I just got our passes which give us access to the entire week! We’re so excited to see great Québec-based designers such as Martin Lim, Denis Gagnon and Tavan & Mitto.  It’s going to be a blast and I can’t wait to meet people, take lots of stylish photos and party!

Speaking of meeting people, Susan just designed the hottest SA business cards yet for our networking purposes.  I’m hoping that the quality of the card will at least serve as a topic of small talk if I get too nervous in front of any big names during fashion week. My problem is that I’m the complete opposite of a suck-up.  I always got annoyed at the teacher’s pet, or that employee that was over-enthusiastic about work around the boss in order to gain some brownie points.  The sad thing is that many fall to this sort of flattery. Whether or not it is evident that a person is sucking up, many give in to this because it gives them more of a sense of authority or power.  Regardless, I am always self-conscious of how eager I appear when meeting a person. If I happen to know that someone is big shit and can help me get to where I want to be, I’ll actually end up giving him/her less attention than I would give your average person.  A self-diagnosis I’ve done to explain these actions led to idea that if I’m sucking up to someone, it means that I am admitting that this person is more important or worth more than myself.  See, I have a bit of what one might call an ego. Accepting inferiority relative to others is not quite my cup of tea.   Who else feels this way?

I wish you a great weekend.  Thanks for reading!

“Fifty Shades of Grey” Inspired Ad Campaign by Marc New York

I think most females I know are going nuts over the raunchy book Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James. Steamy Christian Grey! I personally haven’t read the book and I’m not sure I will. Should I?! There have been talks for making a movie and people are making wish lists on who will play the sexy main characters. I’ll probably watch the movie…

But here’s a sexy ad campaign by Marc New York starring Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza and rugby star Thom Evans.

Simple but sizzling hot, right?
